In response to a report made to ROMP about a spot where dogs can get out at the Currie DEA, we passed the info onto the Parks Dept. In response they checked the entire fence line on Tuesday and found one hole in the ground (not the fence) and plugged it with a cinder block. They said there have been three other such holes dug by dogs in the last two weeks. The problem seems to stem from the fact that in several areas there are overgrown shrubs and weed trees that prevent the dogs owners from being able to see what their pets are doing. The Parks Dept put in a work order to have all the plant material removed from the inside perimeter of the fence.
It is great the parks dept is doing this but another reminder that you need to keep an eye on your dog and if they go to an area you can’t see even for a few seconds check on them They could create the hole, or if there could get through it. The parks dept checks regularly but they cannot always catch them before an issue could arise.
And as always if you notice issues like this let ROMP know and we will follow up.
